Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs is a new EU-funded initiative seeking to support student entrepreneurs across the Greater Copenhagen region. The institutions of higher educations in this area hold a large number of students who intend to launch their own business. Therefore, Technical University of Denmark DTU, Lund University and Copenhagen School of Design and Technology KEA have joined forces to improve the conditions necessary for student entrepreneurs to create businesses, jobs and growth in one of the most innovative regions in the world.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Visual Identity 1
Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Horizontal Logo

Scandinavian design is characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality that emerged early in the 1950s. This description has been the main guideline in creation of the Nordic Enptrepreneurship Hubs logo. My first visual identity suggestion promotes stability, functionality and a traditional nordic design.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Logo Explanation

The word hub can have different meanings. It can either be understood as a center of activity or network or as a rotating part of a wheel. I have decided to play with ambiguousness of this term in the logo design. The main icon is a combination of a wheel hub and a pie chart. It resembles the everchanging world of business.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Vertical Logo Spacing
  • Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Minimum Size
  • The logotype is very symmetric and pleasant for the eye to look at. Spacing between logo elements is defined by the width of its letters. The logo is flexible and can exist in a variety of forms.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Colour Scheme

The colour scheme has been inspired by the visual guidelines of Interreg. My aim is to create a logo that complements and resembles the original one but at the same time looks unique and recognisable.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Typography

To bring more consistency and uniformity I have used typography from the original logo of Interreg. It is marked by a central arch which represents a bridge, a symbol of connection, network and integrity. I was inspired by Øresund, the most recognisable icon of collaboration between Denmark and Sweden. I have reshaped several letters in the logotype. Letter “N” has been modified in a way that symbolizes the bridge while letter “I” has been replaced by a tie to promote professionalism and entrepreneurship.

My second visual identity suggestion puts focus on innovation, creativity and dynamics.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Logo Explanation

The icon resembles a hand holding a lightbulb. The lightbulb is a visual representation of an idea, the cornerstone of every successful start-up company. It is a symbol of innovation, creativity and functionality. Holding tight of your ideas can ignite the initial spark which can be further developed into a strong fire necessary to run your future company.

To bring more consistency and uniformity I have used typography similar to the original logo of Interreg.

Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs - Colour Palette

The colour scheme has been inspired by the visual guidelines of Interreg. My aim is to create a logo that complements and resembles the original one but at the same time appeals unique and recognisable.

The visual identity is complemented by geometric shapes that are very creative and playful but at the same time random and chaotic. It represents the world of entrepreneurship which is very unpredictable, dynamic and often frustrating. Fortunately, Nordic Entrepreneurship Hubs is here to guide ambitious students to reach their goals.
